Programs & Teams

Hookin2Hockey Program

Our beginner program for new players, focused on learning fundamental hockey skills through games and activities in a fun, low-pressure environment. Perfect for first-time players. This is a term based program that typically runs for 7-8 weeks per term. It is primarily designed for children aged between 5-12; however, we welcome all ages, as long as they can hold hockey stick and follow basic instructions.

Under 8 – Hub Based

Modified, hub-based games with an emphasis on skill development, participation and enjoyment. A great transition from Hookin2Hockey into structured play. Games are held on 1/8th of a field, and have 4 players on the field at a time, with reduced game time compared to our full field junior teams. Games occur on a Saturday morning.

Under 10 – Hub Based

Continued skill development with small-sided hub competitions, helping players build confidence, teamwork and game awareness. Also a great transition from Hookin2Hockey or U8 Hub-Based. Games are played on 1/4 of a field and have 5 players on the field at a time. This games are also reduced length in comparison to full field junior games. Games occur on a Saturday morning.

Under 12 – Half Field & Full Field

Players may participate in half-field and full-field formats, supporting progressive development of positional play, rules knowledge and match strategy. New and experienced players are welcome. Games occur on a Saturday morning. Half Field consists of 7 players vs full field consists of 11 players. Please note - Half Field and Full Field availabilities pending registerations across year.

Under 14 – Mixed Full Field

Children of all experience levels are welcome — from complete beginners to those who have played before. Our programs are structured so players can enter at the right level for their age and skill.

What is Hookin2Hockey?
Hookin2Hockey is our entry-level program. It teaches the basic skills of hockey through fun drills and small games, making it the perfect starting point for new players.

What does “hub based” mean (U8 & U10)?
Hub-based competitions group several clubs together at one venue to play modified small-sided games. This reduces travel and creates a friendly, development-focused game day experience.

What should my child bring to training?

  • Mouthguard (required)
  • Shin guards
  • Runners or hockey shoes
  • Water bottle
  • Hockey stick (club loan sticks are usually available for beginners)

Does my child need experience to start?
No — beginners are welcome across all junior age groups, and especially encouraged to start in Hookin2Hockey.

Can my child try hockey before committing?
Most seasons we can offer trial sessions — check with the club for current options.

How do players progress through age groups?
Players move through divisions based on age and development, with coaches helping guide the best pathway each season.
